Elfin Cove is located on the north side
of Chichagof Island near the northern entrance of the Inside Passage.
To the north and across Icy Strait is Glacier Bay National Park, Brady
Glacier, and the Fairweather Mountain Range which forms one of the most
spectacular scenes in South Eastern Alaska.
In
the summer the community of Elfin Cove will increase to a population of
around 200 people, including full time residents, part time residents,
and sport fishermen. During the winter months the population falls to
about 35. Elfin Cove's power is generated by diesel generators. The
telephone system is state of the art equipment with satellite long
distance. Television reception is via satellite. Elfin Cove's school is
located on the boardwalk and has approximately 11 students enrolled.
Elfin Cove is built around a small inner harbor where the fishing boats
